These two parks in the East of Zambia are excellent safari destinations, Luambe is much smaller and off the main safari routes so you have an excellent feeling of remoteness and a park all to yourself with a really nice density of wildlife and species. South Luangwa is much better known but the Nsefu sector is the best of the river fronted areas of the Luangwa with few camps and great wildlife. This is an excellent safari to experience the Luangwa River and its ecos sytems and easy to add components in other parks or other areas of Luangwa.
You will spend 1 night in Lusaka before the safari and then have 4 nights in a very diverse private concession in the central part of the North Kafue staying in Musekese Camp, noted for its top guiding and great hospitality. You then travel to the Busanga plains to their sister camp for another 4 nights where you can expect the same level of guiding and service in this amazing vast wetland area.
Highlights here are the wonderful diversity of species both animal and birds, with a nice range of activities, walks, cruises, day and night drives. Only available from June through October.
3 Nights in Kasanka National Park to see the largest mammal migration on earth, vast colonies of fruit bats come into the area from the jungles of the Congo, an amazing spectacle and this is probably one of the easiest and best places to see and photograph the rare sitatunga antelope. You then have 5 Nights in South Luangwa NP for a more traditional safari experience in this top wildlife area of Zambia where we will be able to explore both the Nsefu region and the Mfuwe areas doing game drives, night drives and bush walks. – a set date safari for a small group maximum 6 people – 6th – 14th November – guided in South Luangwa by Doug Macdonald
