A wonderful safari that will let you experience many of the different eco-sytems of this top quality safari area of Africa. You will be able to explore the many small channels and islands by mekoro canoe and on foot, game drives around beautiful open grasslands and tall woodlands and importantly having quality guides to make the whole picture more complete. Being in your own private tented camp with a great support team to look after you, in a secluded campsite surrounded by wild life is a really genuine safari experience. Great for families, small groups or just you alone.
This safari can be designed to be privately guided by Doug Macdonald or you could join others on the safari. Perfect for small groups of like minded safari goers wanting to experience the magic of the Kalahari and the Okavango Delta during the wet season – Dec to March. We use a small mobile tented camp that has nice walk in safari tents with en-suite bathrooms and a great camp chef to ensure we are all well fed and looked after. We set the camp up in two different areas of the Okavango Delta before travelling to the Central Kalahari where we will be staying in a beautiful lodge in a private concession area.
When the rains come to this area of Botswana it is my favorite time to see the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari areas. You will enjoy the bush and animals in top condition and lots of excellent sightings, baby animals, birds in breeding plumage and some epic cloud scapes and few other safari vehicles.
Even if it does rain during your safari it is often reasonably isolated and for short periods so it is very rare that you wont be able to go out on your safari activities and if anything a little bit of rain enhances the whole experience.
A luxury safari that works either in the dry season or wet season, great for families, the experienced safari goer or if you want to experience your first safari. You will be spoilt with the quality of game viewing and range of activities that you will get on this safari.
3 Different areas within the Chobe and Okavango Delta systems – all with something different and special to offer.
A Private Mobile Safari Guided by Doug Macdonald in the Okavango Delta staying in three very different areas of this famous wildlife area. The safari would start in the North Gate area for 3 nights in the West of the Okavango Delta where you have nice open grasslands edged by mopane and riverine woodland. We then travel to the central parts of the Moremi National Park where we will be more on the edge of the actual Delta for another 3 nights and you will get more of a feel of the diversity of this incredible area as it contrasts greatly between the flooded and dry areas we game drive. The last part of the safari is deep into the actual Delta for a very different perspective where all of our game viewing will be either on foot or by drifting along in traditional mekoros, no roads in this area!
