This safari can be designed to be privately guided by Doug Macdonald or you could join others on the safari. Perfect for small groups of like minded safari goers wanting to experience the magic of the Kalahari and the Okavango Delta during the wet season – Dec to March. We use a small mobile tented camp that has nice walk in safari tents with en-suite bathrooms and a great camp chef to ensure we are all well fed and looked after. We set the camp up in two different areas of the Okavango Delta before travelling to the Central Kalahari where we will be staying in a beautiful lodge in a private concession area.
Zakouma is one of the must see safari destinations of Africa – It has an amazing density and variety of animals and birds that will keep you enthralled as you travel around this little visited but important National Park which is one of the last intact natural ecosystems in the Sahel area. This safari is for small groups or private guests and all guided by Doug Macdonald.
Gonarezhou is an amazing safari destination that is a rising star of the safari destinations in Africa. This safari is designed to give you an all encompassing Gonarezhou experience, guided by Doug Macdonald who has many years of guiding knowledge in this park, he will take you to places that are rarely seen by visitors to this park giving the whole safari the feeling of a real adventure in Africa seeking out new places.
This is a unique safari opportunity to explore the Serengeti with experienced guides on foot. You will be able to reach places that are not usually seen by people, as you walk into places that have no roads and not usually reachable. As you have a few days at the beginning in a more traditional safari camp you will be able to get the usual photographic opportunities that the Serengeti is famous for, then the walking will give you a completely different perspective in this wildlife rich area, with a more pure and remote safari experience for the adventurer.
An incredible journey into the Rain forests of Central Africa staying in three different comfortable camps. This is a true jungle experience that is completely immersive and apart from being able to spend time with the habituated Lowland Gorilla Families you will also see many other species that live in this mosaic of habitats. These include Forest Elephants, Forest Buffalo, Bongo, Sitatunga, Spotted Hyena and a variety of forest duikers and possibly the rare and secretive water chevrotain. Along with this is an excellent variety of birds that will keep any birder enthralled.
When the rains come to this area of Botswana it is my favorite time to see the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari areas. You will enjoy the bush and animals in top condition and lots of excellent sightings, baby animals, birds in breeding plumage and some epic cloud scapes and few other safari vehicles.
Even if it does rain during your safari it is often reasonably isolated and for short periods so it is very rare that you wont be able to go out on your safari activities and if anything a little bit of rain enhances the whole experience.
The Selous and the Ruaha National Parks are two of Africa’s biggest safari areas with incredible diversity of ecosystems and a staggering array of different animals and birds, each day will be a new adventure and never seem like a repeat of the previous day. Finish this off with two relaxing nights in simplistic luxury on a tropical island with your feet up or snorkeling the coral and rocks – what’s not to like?
These two parks in the East of Zambia are excellent safari destinations, Luambe is much smaller and off the main safari routes so you have an excellent feeling of remoteness and a park all to yourself with a really nice density of wildlife and species. South Luangwa is much better known but the Nsefu sector is the best of the river fronted areas of the Luangwa with few camps and great wildlife. This is an excellent safari to experience the Luangwa River and its ecos sytems and easy to add components in other parks or other areas of Luangwa.
This safari will take you to some of the most amazing and well known safari destinations in Africa. To witness the vast herds of animals moving and the predators following this mass of animals has to be one of the top things to do in Africa if you only plan to come here once, if you love coming on safari and haven’t been here before then this must be on your “to do” list. Ngorongoro Crater is a draw dropping addition to this safari and in terms of the incredible variety and density of wildlife inside the worlds largest in tact caldera. Tarangire adds a whole extra dimension to the safari being in a completely different ecological zone there are species here that you wont find on the rest of the safari so it compliments the Tanzania safari experience in the North very well.
This is a Big 5 safari into areas that are so different from one another and unique. Matopos is a beautiful park where the dominant scenery is of granite inselbergs and kopjes separated by beautiful wooded valleys and grasslands. In here you will find a nice population of both Black and White Rhino and a host of other plains game species, like giraffe and zebra. Added to this are specialist animals and birds like Rock Dassies, Klipspringer and Black Eagles. There is much to see here with its ancient and contemporary human history along with the wildlife and beautiful scenery.
Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest National Park and home to Africa’s second largest population of elephant and probably one of Africa’s most diverse National Parks with a big range of predator and prey species for you to find at the numerous water points, either in the concession or inside the park itself.
The safari is topped off with one of the World’s seven natural Wonders of Victoria Falls, an absolutely beautiful site and a great way to start or end your safari.
